Comments: Octavia Hill Estates

I am afraid that I must diassociate myself from the comments made by the three local MP's re the sale by the Church Commissioners of the Octavia Hill Estates.
The result of the sale other than 100% to a Housing Association has been to generate additional capital, which on re-investment secures additional income for the Commissioners to distribute.
The question that has to be considered is the eventual use of this money a better use for the Church than effectively being used as a perpetual subsidy for the Estate.
As long as it emerges as part of the Commissioners Church Mission Fund then yes I believe that this will be a better use. More communities will benefit and the money will be used more pro-actively for both those communities and the Church.
