Comments: Women Bishops debate: online speeches

What a truly wonderful speech by +James, Bishop of Liverpool - in affirming the ministry of Women in the Church:

"The Book of Common Prayer shows us that the ministry of a bishop is to feed the body of Christ. And the Scriptures tell us that it was a woman who physically first fed the body of Christ. If a woman can feed the body of Christ in the flesh surely she can feed the body of Christ in the Spirit."

This, from an 'Evangelical' bishop, affirming the dignity and status of Mary the mother of Jesus, as the perfect paradigm of pastoral ministry, through the substance of her own flesh and blood, is quite a remarkable biblical insight into how the Body of Christ can receive pastoral nurture from a woman.

Thank you Bishop James, for admitting your need of a change of heart on women's ministry - by the pure grace of god's Holy and life-giving Spirit!
