Life in the 21st century is hardly comparable with that of the times of Giovanni Francisco) Bernadone in the 13th, but; "The poor will always be with us". Perhaps, even today, the mission of the Church will be judged primarily by its attitude towards the poor and the marginalised of the world. Let's see how this turns out at the next General Synod, for the emancipation of women.
